I hope you all had a lovely weekend and have been enjoying the snow. We have had a lot in Hawkinge. 

 

I have changed the day slightly from the time table and what I had uploaded  - I have taken some lessons out so you can enjoy the snow.

9:00 - 9:30 - Phonics - o (u)

 

Look at the PowerPoint. Look for patterns in words can help to identify the o(u) grapheme. Read the o(u) words in the 6 sounds groups.

ending in ve

love, glove, shove, above

before th – other, brother, another

ending in ey – money, monkey, honey

before ‘n’ – Monday, son, month (also won, wonder)

after ‘w’ – wonder, woman, won, worry, worried

looks like o-e – come, some, done (not gone!)

 

Watch the video ‘Nothing Like My Other Brother’. Make the Tricky Witch (wave a pretend wand) action every time you hear an o(u) word. Can you remember all of the o(u) words in the song?

 

Use the pictures of draw your own. Make a display for words in each of the sound groups shown above. 

 

Can you use some of the words in sentences?

Learning Objective: To be able to use vocabulary from a text. 

 

Look at the PPT inference starters. Read the sentences and infer where they might be. Why do you think they are there? What evidence can you get from the text?

 

Now listen to the story. 

 

We are going to look at some new vocabulary today and see if we can use them in sentences. Have a look at the worksheet and see if you can use the words in the given sentences.

 

Now draw the ugliest creature you can think of and label it.

Learning Objective: To investigate the weather during the seasons.

 

Have a look through the PPT. It links very nicely to our Maths topic as it is all about tally charts and pictograms. 

 

Choose a season from the worksheet and use the data from that season to create a pictogram.

Go outside and build something in the snow. Could you build me some of the different animals we have been learning about?
